AC16 221A

This steam locomotive was one of 20 imported from the United States during the Second World War. Designed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, they were known by railway workers as 'Yanks' in reference to their country of origin.

732 spent most of its working life in the former South Western Division of Queensland Railways and was a popular engine with crews based in the district. The engine worked passenger, mail and goods trains in its many years of service.

This steam locomotive is recognised as being the last to enter service on a mainline railway in Australia. Built by Walkers Limited of Maryborough, it entered service on March 13, 1958 at a cost of $45,665.17.11. It was withdrawn from service in June 1969.

A total of 227 C17 locomotives were built in Australia and overseas and the first entered service in 1920. Painted brown with green lining, they were nicknamed 'Brown Bombers' - a reference to Joe Lewis, the world heavyweight-boxing champion.

The Blue Baby

The last steam locomotive designed and built by the Ipswich Railway Workshops, 'The Blue Baby', entered service in 1952. It was one of twelve engines of this class, which were primarily used for passenger workings, local goods and shunt trains.

In 1950, QR purchased ten of these locomotives from Beyer-Peacock, Manchester and twenty from Franco-Belge of France. Between the mid 1950s until the late 1960s they worked coal trains, air-conditioned passenger trains and grain trains in central Queensland.

Lever




Rak tuas ini digunakan untuk menukar dan mengunci point serta menundukkan semboyan mekanikal. Sebelum adanya elektrik point, point dan semboyan diset secara mekanikal iaitu menggunakan lever yang ditempatkan di pondok lever. Setiap lever ,e,punyai fungsi yang tertentu. Selalunya lever yang bewarna merah untuk menundukkan semboyan manakala yang bewarna putih untuk mengset point.

Lever yang berderetan sebegini adalah bagi stesen jenis kunci kait penuh iaitu setiap lever yang hendak diset hendaklah mengikut turutan yang saling berkait. Jika berlaku percanggahan lever tidak boleh diturunkan. Dalam deretan lever itu juga ditempatkan tuas agong atau king lever yang berwarna coklat.

Telefon Putar


Telefon yang berfungsi untuk menghubungkan antara 2 tempat sahaja menggunakan kuasa bateri. Apabila pemutar diputar, tempat yang lagi satu akan tersengar bunyi deringan dan boleh bercakap seperti telefon biasa.

Kunci Loist & Moist




Kunci ini digunakan untuk dimasukkan ke dalam lever point supaya boleh diset kepada loop line untuk membuat sesutu gerakan ke loop line samada untuk shunting atau crossing. Dalam keadaan biasa point dalam kedudukan main line dan kunci ini tersimpan di stesen dibawah jagaan ketua stesen. Kunci jenis ini diperuntukkan kepada stesen tanpa kunci kait atau separa kunci kait.

Bagi stesen berkunci kait penuh, jika kunci ini diperuntukkan bermakna poin ke yad atau siding yang menggunakan kunci ini dan selalu disimpan di stesen iaitu 'annex key' jika tidak digunakan.

Key token adalah salah satu kuasa bertolak yang mesti dibawa oleh pemandu bersama trennya memasuki kawasan blog dan seterusnya ke stesen hadapan. Key token digunakan dalam sistem persemboyanan token.
